High Concept Design Meets Sustainability
Friday September 24th at 08:45 am
Sustainable design involves landscapes that use little or no water,
outdoor living environments that reflect geography and place,
and gardens that feed the body and soul. Together, these elements
inspire some of the West's best design solutions and demonstrate
how sustainability and artistry can comfortably co-exist in the
landscape. While covering some of the region's top architectural
landscape and garden design projects for the Los Angeles Times,
Garden Design, Landscape Architecture, and Pacific Horticulture,
Debra has been inspired by sustainable designs that use recycled
and repurposed ingredients as well as innovative plant palettes.
Walls, furniture, floors, artwork, and structures (including sheds)
are expressed in a spectrum of styles, from ranch and modern to
cottage and rustic. She will share insights and inspiration from
backyards, patios, sidewalks, and balconies - beautiful and
functional spaces that reflect their owners' personalities and
respect their surroundings. You can use the ideas as a springboard
for your own design resourcefulness, incorporating sustainable
design into the planted and built world of your own garden.
