Speaker

Linda McDonald

Plant collector & instructor

Linda McDonald is a practicing psychotherapist who took up gardening as a means of relaxing, her own form of therapy.  Soon she developed her own addiction - plants!  Her "Valhalla Garden" in Bothell is well-known for its collection of rare and unusual plants, in bold combinations, artfully arranged.  It has been featured in Garden Design magazine (April 2004) and by Val Easton in the Seattle Times Pacific Northwest magazine (June, 2005).  Her newly renovated garden was open to hundreds of visitors during the 2006 Plant Study Weekend and hundreds more toured during the 2007 Woodinville Garden Club Tour of Gardens.  Most recently she taught garden bouquet making for the Northwest Perennial Alliance and for Totem Lake Garden Club. When she is not in her office she is outside gardening, photographing or making bouquets.

Beyond Beauty: Seeking Sustenance

Creating Nurturing & Nourishing Gardens

Wednesday February 3rd at 4:00 pm

It is not just about beauty.  Gardens today need to offer us more.  Linda will draw upon her experiences as both a practicing psychologist and avid gardener to show experiences in her garden involving smells, taste, vegetables as border companions, and newly created space for gatherings.  Local and international gardens featuring potages, ceramic herb planters and inviting outdoor entertainment spaces will inspire you to create more than just a beautiful landscape.  You will look at your garden in new ways so they can provide a more nurturing and nourishing experience to you and your family.
