Suzy Bales
Author, Garden Bouquests & Beyond and 13 other books
Suzy Bales is the author of 14 books, including her latest, Garden Bouquets and Beyond, to be published by Rodale in January 2010. Her other books include A Garden of Fragrance (Harper Collins, 2000), The Down-To-Earth Gardener (Rodale, 2004) and The Garden in Winter (Rodale, 2007). She won the 1995 American Horticultural Society Garden Writer of the Year Award, and has twice been awarded the Quill & Trowel Award by the Garden Writers Association. Many cooks and gardeners recognize Suzy from her frequent TV appearances on ABC and NBC as well as her series of garden spots on 'Good Morning America.' She was a Show Judge and speaker at the 2004 Northwest Flower & Garden Show and has been a speaker at the Disney Institute, and flower shows in Philadelphia, San Francisco, Boston, St. Lewis and Atlanta. Suzy has served on the board of Hostra University, the American Horticultural Society and the Garden Conservancy. Many gardeners don't utilize all of the plants available for cuttings from their garden, especially in winter. Many vines, clematis for example, make long lasting cut flowers. It is possible to create wreaths, garlands, mock topiaries, candle cups and more year round. There are many simple ways to prolong the bloom of cut flowers and foliage.
