Learn with the Pros: Create a Copper-clad Planter Box

[[UPDATE 9/5/2013:  Due to the closure of Roger Reynolds Nursery this workshop has been cancelled]]

Lorene Edwards Forkner is the author of the best selling Handmade Garden Projects. Attend this workshop and you’ll learn how to create one her popular projects in the book, a copper-clad planter made from a common redwood box covered with pliable copper sheeting. The result is a shiny copper surface with a patina finish that gives the appearance of a valued garden antique. Not a woodworker? No problem; all the tools you need to create your planter at home will be scissors and tacks, plus the down-to-earth instructions from Lorene. In addition to watching step-by-step directions for the planter box, you’ll also watch Lorene show several other examples from Handmade Garden Projects.

Lorene is the editor of Pacific Horticulture magazine. She is a popular teacher and her classes sell out rapidly.  Please sign up soon so you don’t miss this chance for a fun-filled morning with Lorene.  The San Francisco Chronicle had this to say about her DIY project book: “Part inspiration and part manual, but for anyone comfortable working simple tools and construction materials there is just enough step-by-step instruction to get started.”

This event is co-sponsored by Roger Reynolds Nursery and Carriage Stop in Menlo Park, CA. Roger Reynolds is a highly regarded supplier of plants, garden supplies, gifts, services and garden advice on the San Francisco peninsula. They’ve been a regional favorite for over 90 years.

Fee: $30 for Pacific Horticulture, $35 for non members.
All planter boxes, other materials, and nursery plants will be offered to class participants at 20% off retail pricing that day.
