You can name the Pacific Horticulture Society as a beneficiary in your will or living trust to ensure a lasting gift to the society and its programs. When including PHS in your will, we recommend that you consider the following language:
“I (We) give, devise, and bequeath to Pacific Horticulture Society, at P.O. Box 680 Berkeley, CA 94701, tax ID number _____, (a percentage of your estate, a specific dollar amount, or a specific piece of property) for its general use and purpose.”
You can arrange for this type of bequest when you create your will or living trust, or do so later by adding a one paragraph codicil to an existing will or trust. We recommend that you use an attorney to draft or revise your will or codicil.
You can also name Pacific Horticulture Society as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy, or a retirement account such as an IRA, pension, 401(k) or 403(b) plan.
We have created the Evergreen Society to thank and honor previous bequest donors, as well as those who have informed PHS that they have included PHS in their wills. If you wish to become a member of the Evergreen Society, please notify us in writing of your intent to include us in your estate plans. You may also wish to remain anonymous.
