The Pendleton and Elisabeth Carey Miller Charitable Foundation is pleased to announce the 19th annual Elisabeth Carey Miller Memorial Lecture featuring Tony Avent who will present “So Many Plants, So Little Time – Little Known Perennial Favorites to Delight and Excite.” The lecture will be held at Meany Hall for the Performing Arts at the University of Washington on September 19, 2013 at 7:00pm (doors open at 6:15).

Tony Avent is the owner of Plant Delights Nursery and founder of the Juniper Level Botanic Garden in Raleigh, North Carolina. Since 1988, Plant Delights Nursery has been the choice of serious gardeners and plant collectors looking for the best and rarest perennial plants. Mr. Avent is a well-traveled botanical explorer, author, plant breeder and an exceptional plantsman. His travels have included Mexico, China, Korean, Argentina, Taiwan, and Vietnam to name a few along with extensive exploration of the rich floral communities of the Southeast United States. Avent is known for his entertaining lectures laced with a passion for plants, risqué humor, and a tendency to stray from politically correct views; this will surely be a night to remember!

This is a free event intended as a lasting gift to the horticultural community to remember the legacy of Betty Miller and provide a forum for horticultural education.

Free email tickets can be procured from the Miller Botanical Garden at info@millergarden.org or by calling (206) 362-8612 starting August 1, 2013.
