Join Kyra Saegusa at the Los Angeles County Arobertum and Botanical Garden in exploring the rewards of the ecosystem-based edible landscape in this introductory workshop. This class will lay the foundation for introducing this wholistic practice into your own garden and help in the creation of your own sustainable verdant, food-producing space that is at the same time, livable and beautiful.
Kyra Saegusa is a long-time gardener and garden educator. For the last four years she honed her craft at The Huntington Ranch Garden, an experimental, ecosystem-based gardening demonstration site, where she researched sustainable practices in home gardening. Her work and interests include educating the public, research on native pollinators, wildlife habitat and soil biology, and exploring delicious, lower-water use, resilient food crops and edible, garden-appropriate California native plants for the Southern Californian urban gardener. She is currently involved in several projects to provide community garden educators and home-owners hands-on training in ecosystem-based gardening concepts and techniques.
