Come explore the spectacular landscapes and flora of Sikkim and the Darjeeling Himalayas! Drive toward the higher Himalayas through narrow valleys and winding mountain roads where waterfalls leap into deep gorges en route to Lachung. This will be our base to explore two spectacular natural areas, the Yumthang “Valley of the Flowers” and the Shingba Rhododendron Sanctuary which blooms during April and May. Our route is within sight of Kanchenjunga, at 28,169 feet, the 3rd highest peak in the world.

We’ll visit tea plantations around Darjeeling—of British hill station fame—in the foothills of the Himalayas and ride the World Heritage famed “Darjeeling Himalayan Railroad.”

Come join us as we explore the foothills and mountains of Himalayan India with an excellent local botanical guide. PHS board member Greg Graves will escort this tour and has this to offer:

For a gardener there is nothing quite like seeing plants in the wild. The Himalayas have always been a draw for me not just because of the richness of plant material in these regions but for its natural beauty. The stunning mountains to the rivers, lakes, and waterfalls—nothing quite compares. Combine all that with the culture of the area for a once in a lifetime adventure.
